Conflicts/disagreements exist because of our differences – the differences in our needs, moral values and motivations… Sometimes we connect with each other through these differences, sometimes we come across to each other. There is no problem with the disagreements, in other words “coming across,” the question is what we do with this disagreement. It is important to lead our conflicts, because either we love them or not they require our energy. In fact we spend most of our energy and attention on unsolved conflicts. Probably all of us have experienced how tiring an unsolved conflict is. It is not always easy to solve the problem, but when we do it gives us big energy. It requires an ability to solve conflicts. In this practice we will start on the definition and dynamics of conflicts/disagreements, and helpful attitudes to solve them. Herbal Medicine workshop June 20-28th 2015 – one week live-in course in Nea Makri, Greece hosted by Nea Guinea Course outline The course aims at guiding the participants through an inspiring journey of observation and experimentation with herbs, that will give them an opportunity to become familiar with plants as healing mediums and also develop confidence in managing common health conditions based on their own knowledge and skills. The participants will be involved in a process of identifying, cultivating, harvesting, preparing remedies, researching, working in groups and sharing skills and experiences, that will provide them with the means of regaining access to the vast healing potential of their local environment. The theoretical sessions consist of detailed descriptions of the different body systems, including basic anatomy and physiology and in-depth discussions of specific ailments and herbal treatments related to them. During these sessions, we will be focusing on specific herbs for each condition, explaining how and why they work, and we will be explaining the development of different herbal formulas. Practical sessions also provide concise practical information on growing and processing herbs. The participants will have the chance to develop their skills in preparing simple, safe and effective herbal remedies, cosmetics and soaps, as well as designing their own garden and growing their own herbs. The instructor Fotini Georgousi has studied biology, herbal medicine and organic farming and has also been trained in permaculture and alternative healing practices such as Ayurveda, yoga and Thai manual therapies. During the past 10 years she have been involved in different projects in the fields of herbal medicine, organic farming and community activism, while living and working in eco-communities, participating in community garden groups and grass roots initiatives related to health and food sovereignty. Symposium 2016 ​The Intentional Communities Research and Enterprise group will be hosting their second symposium entitled ‘Intentional Communities – Living the Good Life’ on the theme of sustainability and low impact living. The day will consist of presentations from academics and researchers with expertise in the field, a series of themed workshops from practitioners, and culminating in a panel discussion where you will have the opportunity to put your questions to a panel made up of people who can who can help get things started – help with finance, planning and even politics. The full range of speakers is yet to be confirmed, but we hope to have a range of participants including specialists in eco-developments, funding options, planning, and affordable housing. The symposium will be held on Thursday 16th June at the SWALEC stadium (previously the Glamorgan Cricket Club) in Cardiff. The stadium is easily accessible from the city centre and about a 20 minute walk from the main train and bus stations. There is limited free on-site parking and Sophia gardens pay and display car park is a short walk away. This is a very basic gathering to give ourselves an opportunity to meet to connect around Summit themes, learnings, realisations and ideas. In particular to support identifying what supports our continued action on climate change. I noticed there was only one HUB in Australia and thought how good it would be to meet anyone local who was participationg in the Summit. This would be a one off meeting. Other connections and arrangements to meet agian may flow from this. Many people in this area are very involved in climate action and community activities already. If you are reading this, I’d love to meet you for a cuppa and to share experiences of the summit. I’ll try to look recognisable in the cafe so you know wher to sit/which group to join in the cafe

Join GEN Ambassadors Betsy Morris and Raines Cohen, Cohousing Coaches and community organizers with Cohousing California, with area community seekers and residents of an East Bay Cohousing (EBCOHO) neighborhood, to together prepare a community meal and watch and discuss GEN’s Power of Community Summit videos. In cohousing neighborhoods, every home has its own kitchen. But in the shared Common House, members gather up to several times a week to dine together — but because this is a special time for the whole community to be with each other, there’s not room for guests. At this special (un)Common Meal, we will take over a cohousing Common House kitchen on an “off” night and prepare our own Common Meal together; some members of the community may join us to eat it. The shopping will already be done, but we’ll get to cook and clean and learn together, discovering the joys and challenges of feeding a group of diverse humans with unique needs, and cleaning up afterwards. We’ll take turns, with one group cooking while another watches and discusses a Summit video, take time to eat together, and then the cooks get to watch and discuss another video while the first group cleans up.
